Subject of depositions: Manor, town, and borough of Beverley (Yorkshire), granted by the Crown about the year 1 Eliz, to Robert Earl of Leicester, by him to Robert Christmas, at a yearly rent of £160 by the Christmas to Sir George Barnes and John Barnes, by them to plaintiff's father, Michael Wharton, and by him left to plaintiff. Touching a croft called "Frankcroft" in Beverley. Whether a yearly rent of 13s 4d is payable by the occupier thereof to the owner of the manor, etc. Defendant rejoins that a rent had been paid (but wrongfully) for a close called "Farding Flatt" parcel of the provostry of Beverly, or the chantry of St Michael, within Beverley Church, and not for "Frankcroft" as plaintiff claims.
