Description

Short title: Baldwin v Underwood.

Plaintiff(s): William Baldwin.

Defendant(s): Thomas Underwood.

Subject of depositions: Townships of Kinnerton and Ritton (Shropshire), and a pasture called Retton Marsh (once in the occupation of Ralph Leighton), and the lordship or township of Shelve, and the forest of Corndon (Shropshire); whether themarsh is parcel of the demesne land of Rytton Manor. Metes and bounds. Alleged encroachment on commons. [A lease of the marsh to Ralph Leighton and Lawrence Lacon by the abbey of Byldwas, and after in the tenure of Edward Lewes, and leased by Edward Grey, esq, are mentioned].

County/place: Shropshire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1595.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 7 April 1595 at Church Stretton.
