Description

Short title: Whetecombe v Butler.

Plaintiff(s): Peter Whetecombe.

Defendant(s): Joanna Butler.

Subject of depositions: Feofment made by Lawrence Cutliffe and John Husband to John Cutliffe, John Anderton the younger, John Docton, Hugh Preste, of Gorven, John Secham, the younger, Edward Draper, and John Deymande, of all their lands, in Westodden, Northam, Abbotesham, Southleigh, Forefild, Yerish, Westputford, Chipping, Terrington-in-Harton, Bakesworth, and Warneleigh; whether the feofment was made to "superstitious uses" i.e. to find a priest to perform mass, in the church of Hartland? (Devon).
