Description

Short title: Manisty v Briggs.

Plaintiff(s): John Manisty, John Mostrop, Her Majesty's tenants of Struthe Park.

Defendant(s): Isabel Briggs, widow and guardian to her son being heir to the purchasers of the demaynes of the dissolved monastery of Calder.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Calder; touching certain parcels of ground called "Strowd Bank ", "the Spring" and "the Park "; whether parcel of the demesne lands of Calder, or held by tenant right. Customs of manor. [William Manesty, Doctor Leigh, Sir William Towerson, Thomas Leigh, Henry Leigh, Francis Leigh, Thomas Briggs, and Sir Robert Stapleton, are mentioned].

County/place: Cumberland.

Date of commission: 10 May 1594.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 26 September 1594 at Gosforth and November 1592(?) at Calderbridge.
