Description

Short title: Briscoe v Purefey.

Plaintiff(s): Robert Briscoe, clerk, Edward Hereford, William Briscoe.

Defendant(s): George Purefey, Ralph Burton.

Subject of depositions: Right and title to a messuage and lands in Higham (Leicestershire), lately belonging to Ralph Purefoy, of Drayton (Leicestershire); whether he left the premises to Richard Purefoy (son of Ralph), his illegitimate son by Elizabeth Alam, before Ralph married Elizabeth; whether the lands were holden of Her Majesty as of "Winchester fee." [The possessions of Roger, William and Elizabeth Saunders (sister of Richard Purefoy, Nicholas Fox, Thomas Purefoy, and a tenement in Atherston, are mentioned].

County/place: Leicestershire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1593.
