Description

Short title: Ratcliff v Moston.

Plaintiff(s): William Ratcliff.

Defendant(s): William Moston, Ellice ap Richard, Thomas ap Harrie ap Holl, Edward Pearse.

Subject of depositions: Smelting mill, erected by Samuel Flete, on Holywell Brook, which defendants are alleged to have pulled down and destroyed. Alleged injury to people and cattle by pollution of water, caused by working; the mill. Defendants' witnesses say that the mill was erected on common ground in Greenfield, lately belonging to the abbey of Bassingwerk.

County/place: Flintshire.

Date of commission: 7 July 1590.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 3 and 7 September 1590 at Holiwell.
