Description

Short title: Toone v Parleby.

Plaintiff(s): Robert Toone.

Defendant(s): John Parleby.

Subject of depositions: Custom of payment of toll to the mills in the manor of Burton-on-Trent; whether a 16th part of the grain ground was the customary toll. Also touching Repton Mills, Bretby Mills, Portes Mills, Newhall Mills, Drackelot Mills, Claye Mills, Barton Mills (Derbyshire), Tatenhill Mills (Staffordshire), the "King's Mills" at Donnington (Northumberland), Nottingham Mills (Nottinghamshire); whether they take for toll the 16th part of the grain ground. Customs of manors.

County/place: Staffordshire; Derbyshire; Nottinghamshire; Northumberland.

Date of commission: 8 July 1590.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 26 September 1590 at Burton-on-Trent.
