Description

Short title: Earl of Derby v Betniff.

Plaintiff(s): Henry Earl of Derby.

Defendant(s): John Betniff, clerk, vicar of Brackley.

Subject of depositions: Manor and vicarage of Brackley (Northamptonshire); whether the owners of lands called "Halfe" in the parish of Brackley, have paid tithes to the vicarage; whether "Halfe" aforesaid is parcel of the honor of Winchester Fee, which belongs to the Crown tithes. [The names and possessions of Sir George Peckham, kt, William Lyle, patron of the vicarage, Christopher Light, Mr Pargiter, Thomas Blyncowe, tenants to the Earl of Derby of said premises, Sir Edmund Peckham, Thomas Rawson, Mr Baker, Mr Wood, Mr Spokes, and John Watts, vicars of Brackley, are mentioned].

County/place: Northamptonshire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1589.
