Description

Short title: Grestcroft v Latham.

Plaintiff(s): John Grestcroft.

Defendant(s): Edward Latham, Anthony Simpson, Richard Awchon.

Subject of depositions: Manor and rectory of Ottringham (Yorkshire), parcel of the late college of Thornton (Lincolnshire). Right of common on Ottringham Common, and Ottringham intack and marsh, etc. Tithes. [A grant by Queen Elizabeth, by Letters Patent, dated 19 November, 23 Eliz I of lands in Ottringham to John Grestcroft, Ann his wife, and Lawrence Thompson, is mentioned.] Also concerning Munckgarth Manor, in Ottringham Marsh, and a parcel of land called Somergamer. [A grant by Queen Elizabeth, dated 30 January, 23 Eliz I to Richard Awchon is mentioned.] Lands "gained from the sea ".

County/place: Yorkshire; Lincolnshire.

Date of commission: 26 November 1588.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 16 January 1589 at Otteringham.
