Description

Short title: Lowen v Spencer.

Plaintiff(s): Helen Lowen, widow, and Jasper Lowen, in the right of the Queen's Majesty.

Defendant(s): John Spencer, lord of the manor of Magdalen Bury.

Subject of depositions: Right and title to a piece of waste ground called "Robley Heath" alias "Frobley Heath" lying in the parishes of Welwyn, Codicott, and Knepworth; whether the heath is parcel of the manor of Magdalen Bury, in the parish of Welwyn. Alleged molestation of Her Majesty's tenants, and encroachment upon the ground by defendant. [The possessions of Rowland Lytton, Thomas Pene, Sir William Layes, kt, William Auncell, Simon Lowyn, William Lowen (late husband of plaintiff Helen and father of Jasper) are mentioned].

County/place: Hertford.

Date of commission: 5 July 1587.
