Description

Short title: Tonge v Selby.

Plaintiff(s): Henry Tonge and Elizabeth his wife, late wife of Christopher Cooke, the younger.

Defendant(s): William Selby.

Subject of depositions: Lordship of Wenlaton (Durham), and the coal mines therein; Christr. Cooke, the elder, Christropher Cooke, the younger, Cuthbert Blunt, and Barbara his wife, and Christopher Elmer, of Newcastle-on-Tyne; touching a lease of said coal mines, granted to Cuthbert Blunt, late of the town of Newcastle-on-Tyne, merchant and alderman, by Henry, late Earl of Westmorland, and grant of same by Blunt to Christopher Cooke. Interference of defendants with plaintiffs' operations in the mines, particularly between Martinmas 1581 and Martinmas 1582. Touching the amount of coals wrought during said lease. Conduct of workmen. Employment of women in working the mines for lack of men, etc. "An account of coals wrought at Winlayton, between Martinmas 1581 and Martinmas 1582. ".
