Description

Short title: Earl of Shrewsbury v Clarke.

Plaintiff(s): George Earl of Shrewsbury.

Defendant(s): Nicholas Clarke, Robert Clarke, Godfrey Clark, Thomas Clark.

Subject of depositions: Right and title to "the Guild Lands" in Chesterfield (Derbyshire). Whether leased by the Crown (Phillip and Mary) to Ralph Clark, alderman of Chesterfield, and to the burgesses of Chesterfield, and assigned by them to the plaintiff. [The name of Sir Francis Leeke is mentioned].

County/place: Derbyshire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1586.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 28 March 1586 at Chesterfield.
