Description

Sir Bevil Granville. Out-letters. Official and semi-official; and private (mainly to his brothers, George, later Lord Lansdown of Biddeford, and Bernard, and his brother-in-law, Sir John Stanley, bart.) (as governor of Barbados). Enrty book. 1 vol.

Note
The entries ofthis volume (which is largely blank) are mainly holograph. With the bookplate of Calwich [abbey, co. Stafford], which was subsequently the family seat. This volume was purchased from George Last, esq., bookseller, of 21A, High Street, Bromley, co. Kent, (in whose catalogue 225 it formed item 538), in June 1937 and has been placed, by analogy, here. An accompanying volume of Barbadian council papers (item 539), of presumably the same provenance, was sold to the John Rylands Library, Manchester. The present entry book (PRO 30/26/90) was purchased by Mr Last on 23 April 1937 at the auction rooms (lot 37) of Messrs. Hodgson and Co., who had themselves received it from a dealer.
