Appellant: Robert Hewett of Barking, Essex, shipowner, owner of the smack Prosperous and Samuel Hewett of 43 Trinity Square in the City of London, shipowner, owner of the smack Alert, and William Snow and William Phillips, masters respectively, and others, the respective crews of the said smacks. Respondent: Thomas Aylan of Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, coal fitter, owner of the schooner Atlas and Messrs Bokkow and Vaughan of Middlesbrough-on-Tees, Durham, owners of her cargo. Subject: Salvage of the Atlas and her cargo. Lower Court: High Court of Admiralty of England.
