Many of the court rolls in this series cover only a few years: however, there are some with longer runs. For example, the court rolls for Sackford Hall, Essex, cover 1301 to 1714.
Medieval and early modern runs occur too for Newton Ferrars, Devon; Beauchamp Otten, Essex; Arlingham, Gloucestershire; and Bausley, Montgomery.
There are considerable eighteenth-century runs for Chorley, Lancashire, and Cheswardine, Shropshire. The fullest and most important sequence comes from the manor and hundred of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, which also contains manorial documents other than court rolls. This collection is particularly important for the eighteenth century, although it does contain much material from the seventeenth century.
The court rolls in this series were extracted from the exhibits which entered Chancery and are now in C 103 - C 114
