France Vol. 4. (a) Embassy in Paris. (b) Embassy in London. Private correspondence (drafts). Lord John (from 1861 earl) Russell, foreign secretary, to Lord Cowley, ambassador and Hon. William Grey, embassy secretary, Paris; to Counts Persigny and Flahaut, ambassadors, London; to R. Cobden and others.

Note

Letters are from Foreign Office or Lord John's private residence, Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park, unless otherwise stated. emperor = Napoleon III empress = Eugenie. Note. The Embassy in Paris correspondence of 1865 has been bound in inverse order. Folio numbering is therefore in inverse order but the list is given in chronological sequence
