Foreign affairs: Prussia, Austria and Schleswig Holstein. The Queen's condemnation of Bismarck's "effrontery" and "iniquity" (Gen. Grey, fs. 11-13) but Palmerston considers it is "rather late" for the Queen's eyes to have been opened; he condemns conduct of Prussia and Austria towards the Duchies but he wants a strong Germany "..... to control those two ambitious and agressive powers, France and Russia" (fs. 77-80).
