Politics and government: J.R's resignation: letters of condolence, regret etc.; Press antagonism: J.R. complains of "this vile tyranny of the Times" (fs. 26-8); the anger of his friends against that newspaper; "..... that infamous journal" (Enfield, fs. 51-4); Dean Elliot of Bristol's proposal that a newspaper be bought in which to restore J.R's political reputation; the dean's correspondence with W.
