VOL. 11D Summary of Contents. Political and administrative correspondence; memoranda relating to conduct of the Crimean war. Politics and government: separation of departments of war and colonies: Queen and cabinet unanimously in favour; consequent cabinet and governmental changes; Lord Aberdeen's coalition problems "..... I do not look to parity in the cabinet" but he feels that members of his own party may be "aggrieved" (fs. 126-7). Question of an office for J.R.: his attempt to leave the government; he accepts office of Lord President of the Council; his criticism of the conduct of the war "..... the Cabinet have shown so much indecision" (fs. 12-17). Office of Woods etc: Chief Commissioner Kennedy's dismissal; he seeks J.R's support; Gladstone's views (fs. 243-6). General Register Office: question of G. Sowray's services. Board of Health: Lord Palmerston's proposal to place under a secretary of state. Charity Commission administration. Correspondence: J.R.; Lords Aberdeen, Minto, Granville, Shaftesbury, Palmerston; W.
