Finance: money crisis easing; corn prices rising. Peerages: Lord Brownlow's claim to earldom of Bridgewater. Politics and government: Correspondence: Sir C. Wood; Henry Rich; Lord Clarendon and others. Ireland: correspondence of J.R. and Lord Clarendon: crime and distress; murder of landlords. J.R. against coercion and limitation of arms, suspension of habeas corpus and other suppressive measures; agrees to a constabulary bill; urges tenant rights and landlord restraint. Report from co. Tipperary. J.R. and Lord Clarendon discuss drafting of Irish items in Queen's speech. Correspondence: J.R; Lords Clarendon, Lansdowne, Clanricarde; Gen. Napier and others.
