Description

Refusal to accede to the request of Edward II. who has asked the pope to depose William [de Lamberton,] bishop of St. Andrews, as a traitor, and to restore Thomas de Riveriis to that see, the latter, it is alleged, having been made bishop by Clement V., of which the pope finds no record in the papal registers. Per tuas nobis . . . Avignon. 14 Kal. Oct., 3 John [XXII.]
