Order by Alexander [III.] to the archbishop of Canterbury, papal legate, and his suffragans, and to the abbots, archdeacons, deans and priests in their dioceses to prohibit any persons under their control from taking tithes from the brethren of Quarr or from the brethren of any other Cistercian monastery in respect not only of lands recently brought into cultivation but also of any lands tilled by them with their own hands or at their charges, that being the proper interpretation of the privilege granted to that order by the pope's predecessors.
