DEPARTMENTAL COMMITTEE ON HUMAN ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

HO 342/6-62 consist of the records of the Departmental Committee on Human Artificial Insemination, which formed an annexe to file MSC 424/1/29, which does not itself survive. A copy of the committee's report is included in HO 342/4.

The Departmental Committee on Human Artificial Insemination was set up in 1958, under the chairmanship of Lord Feversham, 'to enquire into the existing practice of human artificial insemination and its legal consequences and to consider whether, taking account of the interest of individuals involved and of society as a whole, any change in the law is necessary or desirable'. The Committee's report was published in 1960 (Cmnd 1105).
