Description

Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Letters from various offices [government departments and other organizations] and individuals on matters related to British Honduras [Belize]. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

  • Admiralty (supply and export of mahogany, wireless communication with Jamaica, defence, wireless station at Belize);
  • Foreign Office (Mexican Consul at Belize, disturbed state of the frontier with Guatemala, affairs in Central America, defence, prevention of smuggling, W Young's visit to the US, intrigue against the Honduras government, relations of Guatemala with Mexico, Salvador, and Honduras; Bill to prohibit acquisition of land by aliens, Alfred R Tayelor, wireless communication, proposed union of Central American republics);
  • Home Office (removal of A R Tayelor from the colony);
  • War Office (defence, commissioner for aliens, Lieutenant Colonel E L Cowie's conditions of appointment);
  • General Post Office (wireless service, postage stamps for the Canadian Post Office);
  • Colonial Office (defence, mahogany requirements for 1918, appointment of William Hart Bennett as governor);
  • Honduras Trading Company (position of the company);
  • British Museum (Ordinance No 1 of 1917 Wild Birds Protection amendment);
