Description

Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Correspondence from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals on matters relating to British Honduras. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

  • Crown Agents (Stann Creek railway construction, securities of Bank of British Honduras, increase of salary for D O Aplin and D Hoskins, loan legislation);
  • Foreign Office (money order conversion with Mexico, violation of British territory by Mexican officials, navigation of River Hondo, telegraph convention and agreement with Mexico, money order agreements with Mexico and Bahamas, boundary between British Honduras and Guatemala, telegrams from British Honduras via Payo Obispo, loss of parcels from London to Guatemala via Belize, new navigation laws in Honduras);
  • Home Office (mutiny in Belize prison);
  • War Office (survey);
  • Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (Ordinance 16 of 1908 - pharmacy and prisons);
  • Western Lands Syndicate Limited (development of lands and concessions);
  • General Post office (transmission of telegrams, postal packets sent to Guatemala via Belize, telegrams between United Kingdom and British Honduras);
  • Audit Office (Public Works Department and stores account);
  • Belize Estate and Produce Company Limited (delineation of boundary and frontier line);
  • London Fire Brigade (fire engines).
