Description

Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Correspondence from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals on matters relating to British Honduras. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

  • Admiralty (visit of the Governor of British Honduras to Mexico in HMS Scylla);
  • Crown Agents (staff of the Stann Creek railway, appointment of Superintendent of Public Works, application of Messrs Boyle and Aplin for an increase of salary, export of tortoiseshell to Germany, loan legislation, Professor Boyce's report on yellow fever);
  • Foreign Office (revolution in Honduras, telegraph convention in Mexico, Mr Tower's visit to the Colony, navigation of and smuggling on river Hondo, direct money order exchange with Mexico, outrage by Mexican Customs officials, pan-American medical congress, Mexican violation of British territory in 1906, affairs of Central America, British Honduras - Guatemala boundary, complaint against British SS Don Felipe, clearing of mangroves from river Hondo);
  • India Office (emigration of 'East Indians' from Canada to British Honduras);
  • Board of Trade (goods landed from the wreck of SS Anselm);
  • War Office (case of Colour Sergeant Skinner);
  • General Post Office (Insurance of Letters Ordinance, direct money order exchange with Mexico, telegraphic agreement with Mexico, repurchase of postage stamps from the public);
