Description

Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Correspondence received from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on subjects concerning British Honduras. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

  • Crown Agents (Stann Creek Railway, consulting engineers, rolling stock, instruction to resident and assistant engineers, remuneration for consulting engineers, loan £100,000);
  • Foreign Office (dredging of the River Hondo, British subjects in Bay Islands, German Consul, landing of Mexican seamen, prevention of smuggling in the River Hondo, Jesus Souza [or Sosa] and his extradition, telegraph convention with Mexico, dredging of River Hondo, relations between Mexico and British Honduras, landing of Mexican soldiers in pursuit of a deserter, Mexican vessels in British waters, smuggling in River Hondo, telegraph convention between Mexico and British Honduras, detention of mails at Guatemala, dues imposed on British shipping at mouth of the River Hondo, Mr Tower's visit to Belize);
  • Home Office (case of Richard Wilson);
  • Treasury (criminal 'lunatic' Richard Wilson, issue of new five cent coin).
