Description

Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Correspondence from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals on matters relating to British Honduras. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

  • Crown Agents (memorial to Queen Victoria, railway scheme, supply of a dredger, sinking fund of the Belize improvement loan of 1885);
  • Foreign Office (export of arms and ammunition, letters of request from foreign tribunals, surrender of military deserters, detention of Mr Lewis by Ycaiche 'Indians', nationality of the inhabitants of the Bay Islands, establishment of a bank in the colony by Mr Heustis);
  • War Office (report on volunteers 1901, employment of a Drill Instructor);
  • Unofficial Members of the Legislative Council (mail contract);
  • Colonial Office (local supplies for Government departments);
  • Belize Estate and Produce Company Limited (navigation of River Hondo).
