Description

Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Correspondence from individuals on matters relating to British Honduras. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

  • Dr Charles George Brown (medical fitness of W R Ward Hunt, health of Dr A Hunter);
  • B Cramer (disputes with the Government as to lands on the Moho River);
  • Henry Fowler (address on his departure, his services in the Colony and extract from the Angelus, disclosure of Dr Hunter's confidential notes, non-issue of Government Gazette of 30 October, land grant to Mr Melhado, imprisonment of Mr Dillet, Guatemalan boundary);
  • R T Goldsworthy (demarcation of the western boundary, action of the Mexican ship Indipendencia, employment of a Mining Engineer, trespass on lands of Belize Estate and Produce Company by Indian wood cutters, statements as to his recall, riotous meeting at the Colonial Club and stoning of the Spanish Council, appointment of Mr Porter as foreman of works, application of F J S Blancaneaux for re-instatement in the Constabulary, the new Police Force, memorial against his administration, mahogany licence granted to Messrs Cramer, extension of leave, amalgamation of the posts of Surgeon and Sub-Inspector, report on A W Dillet, complaint of Mr Melhado for mahogany licenses, establishment of a Constabulary, disturbance in the streets of Belize on 10 January, suggestions of the Surveyor General as to a survey of the Colony, Mr Millson's expenses in connection with the boundary survey, appointment of Messrs Robertson and Aikman to the Legislative Council, proposed construction of blockhouses, appointment of W J Marshall to the Legislative Council, proposals of the United States syndicate for the construction of a railway, methods for raising additional revenue);
