- Part of a miscellaneous collection bought for the Guildhall Library in 1890 and presented 9 December 1940. The Calendar of State Papers Domestic, Elizabeth, 1598-1601, contains on p.278, under date 6 August 1599, an entry of the warrant to pay Sir George Carew, lieutenant of the Ordnance, £1456-6-2, the total of 96/2, for munitions for the armies appointed for defence against invasion.
