Description

Entry books of decrees and orders kept by the registrars of the court of Chancery, whose duty it was to attend the court and to record the orders, decrees and dismissals.

The entries include a record of any orders made during the course of a case and the final judgement, as well as the date for the recording of affidavits or depositions, of the hearing, the final decree and the judgement.

Arrangement

The books are divided into two series known as the A and B books, beginning respectively in 1544 and 1547. Until 1630 both sets of books list suits indiscriminately by the initial letter of the plaintiff's name. Thereafter A books list plaintiffs A-K and B books L-Z.
