Zanzibar did not have a separate British Council representative. Prior to 1964 council affairs in Zanzibar were the responsibility of the representative in Tanganyika, administered from his office in Dar-es-Salaam. The council was represented in Tanganyika from 1950. In 1964 Zanzibar joined Tanganyika to form Tanzania.
