Description

Letters patent inspecting and confirming letters patent of Edward IV to John, Duke of Norfolk.

Confirming to him in recompense for the castle and borough of Chepstowe, the manor of Barton, and the manor of Tudenham, in the Marches of Wales, adjoining co.Glouc., with their regalities etc., of which seised by fine in Common Bench, Michaelmas term, 8 Edward IV, William, Earl of Pembroke, complt., and John, Duke of Norfolk, and Elizabeth, his wife, deforc. ;

Granting him return of writs etc. in vills, manors etc. of Fornesett, Framlyngham, Little Dychyngham, Loddon, Siseland Halveryate, Southwalsham, Canteley, Strumpeshawe, Castre, Wynterton, Dekelburgh, Bayton and Bayfeld, co. Norf. ; in hundreds of Launedyche and Southgrene hoo, and half hundreds of Eresham and Gyldecros, same co. in vills, manors etc. of Kelsale, Bongaye, Pesenhale, Caldecote, Stoneham, Denyngton, Broundyshe, Ilketshale and Cratfelde, co. Suff. ; and the rapes of Lewes and Brembre, and hundred and lordship of Boseham, and vill of Stolvghton, co. Suss. ; manors of Reygate and Dorkynge, co. Surr. ; vills, manors etc, of Harewycke and Dovercourte, co. Essex. ; and granting other liberties in the same places.

Witnesses, Dated at Westminster, 8 Edward IV. Confirmation tested at Westminster, Great Seal. Decorated with portrait of Elizabeth I. Endorsement of enrolment in Memoranda of Exchequer, among Recorda. Michaelmas term, 1 Elizabeth, Treasurer's Remembrancer.
