Letters patent. Queen, by letters patent, 10 July 18 Elizabeth, leased to Thomas Elwalde, 8½ bovates of land in Halegate, otherwise Saffordale, in fields and meadows of Cottingham, co. York, pasture in Cottingham called Middlepece in Lorteley, 40 a, pasture in Cottingham called Little Lorteley and a pasture adjoining called Outegate, parcel of manor of Cottingham, and parcel of possessions late Earl of Richmonde, co. York pasture called Southe chaunter land, le Twelve ends and Westcotegarth, parcel of manor of Cottingham and parcel of possessions of Duchy of York, except great trees, 21 years, £4, 40s., 100s., 30s., 40s., 33s. 4d. 15s. p.a.. Great seal. Enrolled 20 June 1585, William Spencer, Auditor.
