Description

Charter inspecting the following charters to the monastery of Brummore. (1) charter of Henry I confirming grants of Baldwin de Riueres and Hugh, his uncle, in vill of Brumore etc. Witnesses (cf. Monasticon, VI, p. 329). (2) charter of Henry II confirmingsame. Witnesses (cf. C.Ch.R., IV, pp. 262-263). (3) charter of Henry III confirming grant of 17 a. land in New Forest etc. Witnesses. Dated at Westminster, 9 January 31 Henry III (cf. C.Ch.R., I, p. 311). (4) letters patent inspecting letters patent of Edward I granting the advowson of church of Brerdyngg, in Isle of Wight. Tested at Evesham, 28 March 29 Edward I and confirming. Tested at Westminster, 28 May 8 Edward II (cf. C.P.R., 1292-1301, p. 585 ; C.P.R., 1313-1317, p. 291). (5) letters patent of Eleanor, Queen of England, of 4 a. land per acram Baronum in bailiwick of Godeshull. Dated at Winchester, 5 May 6 Edward I. Confirming these and grant of Amice de Rodueriis of manors of Rumbrigge and Langeleye and her land in vill of Malebrok. Witnesses, dated at Waltham, 6 February 6 Edward III. Great seal. (cf. C.Ch.R., IV, pp. 261-263). Endorsement that all those confirmed which touch the forest and this confirmation of them allowed and enrolled among other charters of liberty touching the forest before Robert de Clifford and his follows, Justices Itinerant for Pleas of the Forest in co. Southampton, Monday after the Translation of St, Thomas the Martyr, 4 Edward III. Rotulo sexto de cartis.
