Description

Letters patent inspecting (1) letters patent of Henry V, under his great seal of South Wales, inspecting an enrolment made before Robert Hulle, Justice of South Wales, at Sessions held at Cardygan, Monday, Feast of SS. Peter and Paul, 4 Henry V, of a plea of trespass, Walter ap Ieuan Denbigh against Meredith Scolhayk, trespass at Lampadern. Abbot and Convent of Vale Royal claimed their liberty to have cognizance of the case in their court of Lampadern and produced letters patent of Edward III, dated at Clyue, 20 June 11 Edward III, which present King had confirmed as Prince of Wales, dated at Castle of Chester, 16 June 2 Henry IV, to William Kiddesby, late parson of Lampadern, also a writ of privy seal of present King to the Justice and Chamberlain of South Wales, dated at Westminster, 3 December 3 Henry V. Exemplification dated at Cardigan, 14 July 4 Henry V ; (2) letters patent of Henry V, inspecting a record before John Cherbury, Justice of South Wales, in Sessions at Cardigan, Monday after St. James the Apostle, 9 Henry V, that tenants of the glebe called Maynorpadarn, that ever, before the rebellion of Wales, they had been free of all secular service and contributions to subsidies and tallages, which liberties were granted them, exemplification under seal of Chancery of South Wales. At request of Thomas, Abbot of Vale Royal, exemplification. Tested at Westminster, 20 January 26 Heney VI. Great seal.
