Description

Letters patent inspecting (1) Letters patent, tested at Shene, 8 April 51 Edward III, granting the Prior of the Charterhouse nigh London, a skin of wine annually in the port of London, by the hand of the King's Butler (2) Charter, witnessed, 20 May 22vRichard II (cf. C.Ch. R., V, pp. 381-382) and confirming the same and also letters patent tested at Westminster, 15 February 37 Henry VI, granting the same a skin of wine annually and granting licence to acquire in mortmain. Great Seal. Endorsements (1) Memorandum the 13 July 16 Edward IV the Prior and Convent by the above licence acquired from William Hyde, citizen and mercer of London, and Henry Assheborne, the manor of Cardons, in p. of Cleve, otherwise Clyve, otherwise Clyff, co. Kent, and a messuage, 31 a. land, 3 a. meadow, 4 a. wood and 20 a, salt marsh, called Drapers, in same p., and 1 messuage, 7 a. land, 1 a. meadow, 1 r. wood, called Ballardys, in same p., a meadow called Bernardys, in same p., 1 a. land called Petwyns, in same p., 20 a. land, 3 r. wood, in same p., to value of 10 marks p.a., in part satisfaction of £40 lands etc. (2) These letters are vacated as to the alien Priory of Okeburne and its possessions because the King, 23 February 1 Edward IV, by other letters patent, by name of alien Priory of Okeburne in Okeburne Magna and Okeburne Parva, co. Wilts etc.
