Description

Indenture of Assignment. (1) John, Duke of Northumberland, Earl Marshal of England, Lord Great Master and Steward of King's Household, and (2) Lady Jean Denny, late wife of Sir Anthony Denny kt., dec., and sole extrix of his Will. Henry VIII, by letters patent under great seal of England, 27 March 36 Henry VIII, granted Denny an annuity of £50 out of the manors of Brawghing, Corneburry, Westmyll and Little Hornemeade, co. Hertf., then in King's hands by minority of Margaret and Mary Audeley, daughters and co-heirs of Sir Thomas Audeley kt., Lord Audeley of Walden and Chancellor of England, and the custody of the body and marriage of Margaret Audeley. Present King, by indenture, 31 May 3 Edward VI, by advice of Court of Wards and Liveries, leased to Denny manors of Brawghing, Cornebury, Gybrake, Westmyll and Little Hornemeade, co. Hertf., and the manor of Tyltey, co. Essex, and lands belonging, during minority of Margaret and Mary Audeley, advowsons etc. excepted, £120 p.a. (details of payments to Feodaries and others.) Assignment of above to Duke. Seal ; signature : Jone Denny.
