Queen Elizabeth, by letters patent, under great seal, 23 June 2 Elizabeth, leased to Richard Hampden, the Queen's Principal Clerk, the rectory and church of Missenden and all messuages etc. belonging, and also all messuages in Hide, Chesham, Stokehammond, Horton, Pott.erowe and Ballinger, co. Bucks., parcel of manor of Missenden, and lands etc. in Hide and Chepingwicombe, from Michaelmas 1561, 30 years, £13-6-8 p.a. for rectory, other premises, 30 years, 43s. 5d., 57s., 26s. 8d. 40s., 47s.1 d. Surrender to Queen after lives of himself and his daughters, Ruth and Mary. Seal, signature G. Hampden. Acknowledged before Matthew Carew, Master in Chancery, 28 January. Endorsement of enrolment on dorse of Close Roll. Signed Thomas Lutley.
