Description

Appointment by William, Marquess of Winchester, High Treasurer of England and Master of King's Wards and Liveries.

By an Act of Parliament begun at Westminster 23 January 5 Edward VI reciting it was enacted in parliament at Westminster 32 Henry VIII that all manors etc. mentioned therein be appointed to come to Edward, late Duke of Somerset, by the name of Edward, Earl of Hertford, that is the manors of Mochalney, Drayton, West houer, Yarneshill, Camell, Downehende, Hilcombe and Fyssede, co. Somerset, and all lands therein be to the Duke and Lady Anne, his wife, and heirs, and in default of heirs, to Henry Seymour esq., the Duke's brother, and his heirs, and other remainders mentioned.

On 25 May 32 Henry VIII he was seised of the manors of Hatche Beauchampe, Shepton Beauchampe, Laurence Lydyarde, co. Somerset, Wotton Rivers, Burbage Sturmy, lands called Westecourte and Bowden, p. of Burgage, the manors of Huysshe and Shawe, the third part of the manors of Crofton and Bedwin, the third part of two parts of the manors of Crofton and Bedwin, the third part of the manor of Stapleforde, the third part of two parts of the manor of Stapleforde, the third part of the manor of Cullesfeld Sturmy, the manor of Harden and certain lands in Collingbourne, Bedwin and Wilton, the third part of two parts of the manor of Cullesfeld Sturmey, the manor of Sturmyeswike, the third part of the manor of Burbage Savage, and certain lands called Iwood Closes, Collynes Downes, two parts of the manor of Wolphall, the manor of Stuttescombe, and certain lands in Marlboroughe, co. Wilts, the manor of Elveteham, Hampshire , the manor of Tyttecombe, co. Wilts., the manors of Broadetowne, Sherston, Ambresburie, the hundred of Ambresburie, the hundred of Alwortheburie, the late Priory of Eston, the manors of Froxfelde, Grafton, Monkton next Broughton, Langdon with the wike Mydgehalle, the grange of Studley with Costowe, the manor of Monkton nigh Chippenham, the manor of Thornhill, a farm called Brome farme, the manor of Erchefounte, the manor of Alcanninge, the manor of Grafton, otherwise Grafton Courte, the manors of Collingbourne Ducis, Slawenfirde, Alyngton, Sopworthe, and Wraxall, Mayden Bradley, co. Wilts., the manors of Yarnefeld, Yarneshill, Camell with Downeham, Ilmyster, Ilcombe, the Abbotts Myddleney, Lympesham, Turnocke, Chedder, Sandforde, Worton, Beauchampe Heygrove, Spekington with Bridgehampton, co. Somerset, certain lands called Fitzwarren near Welphall, co. Wilts, the reversion of the manor of Castell Carie and Amesforthe, a yearly rent of £20 out of the same castle and manor, co. Somerset, the manors of Bayclif, Boxe, Broadhenton and Stapleforde, co. Wilts., the manor of Puryton, with Downe ende, co. Somerset, being together of the clear yearly value of £1,430-9-4, which all remained in his possession until the day of his attainder.

It appeared to the Marquess of Winchester that on 25 May 32 Henry VIII the late Duke was seised in the third part of the manor of Tuwell, the manor of Westhiuer, co. Somerset, the manors of Polling and Moreshall, Hampshire , the manor of Fygheldeane, co. Wilts., the manor of Lysse Esturmye, co. Southt., the manors of Rudgewaie, Magnesfelde and Wykewyke, co. Glouc., the rectory of Ambresburie, the manor of Winterbourne, and the rectories of Easton, Froxfelde, Stapleforde, Tytcombe, the manor of Corseley, certain lands in Tudworthe, the manor of Barwicke Bassett, the late prebend and parsonage of Alcanninge, the prebend and parsonage of Erchefounte, the manors of Monkton Farleigh, and other lands in Monkton Farleigh, the manor of Kingston Deuerell, co. Wilts, the manor of Mochelney and the rectory of Mochalney, the manor of Drayton, the manor of Fysshed and the rectory of Fysshed, the manor of Westhouer, the rectory of Ilmyster, the rectory of Ilcombe, otherwise Hylton, the parsonage of Horton, the parsonage of The Abbys, the parsonages of Meryet Drayton, Westhouer, Somerton and Moreton, co. Somerset, messuage called Somerset Place and divers tenements called Chester rents, co. Middx., the manors of Homyngton and Ablington, co. Wilts., the manor of Twickenham and divers lands in Haston, co. Midd., being of the clear yearly value of £753-14-5½. William. Marquess of Winchester, as Master of the King's Wards and Liveries, appoints to Sir Edmund Seymour kt., son and heir of the Duke, by the Lady Anne, the manors of Donpoole, Puleton, Mere and Westbarne, co. Somerset, the manors of Symondeboroughe, Kingston and Povington, co. Dorset, and all the lands of the late Duke in the pp. of Symondeboroughe, Corfe Castell, Knolle and Steple, co. Dorset, the manor of Collingbourne Dormer, Collingbourne Sutton, Collingbourne Kingston, Hixingescombe, Pewsey, Shalbourne, Estecourte, Marlboroughe with Barton, and the forest of Savernacke, Burbage Darell, Shalbourne, Westcourte, otherwise Dormer, Eaton Warren, the hundred of Sylkley, the manor of Knolle, and all lands in Bedwin, the site of the late Priory of Ambresburie, with all the lands therein, the borough of Ambresburie, pasture called Ltttelcote, the manors of Eston Bradstocke, West Grafton and Est Grafton, with a yearly rent of 4s. for 4 bussells of wheat, the manor of Westcoombe and Bedwin, co. Wilts., of the yearly value of £753-14-5½.
