The British Council Staff Association was founded in 1948 in order to bring the views of the staff to official notice. Its main committees were Consultation and Arbitration (CONSARB) and Promotion and Recruitment (PROMREC) which reported back to the Joint Staff Committee.
The British Council Staff Association continued to work successfully until it handed over to the British Council Whitley Council on 1 January 1976.
