The British Council’'s Representative for the South Pacific was based in Fiji, and was responsible for British Council activity in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanatu and Western Samoa.
The office was open from 1950 to 1966, and from 1982 to 1990. From 1982 onwards, the Representative was also Education Advisor to the British Development Department in the South Pacific (BDDP).
