- No records of the Books and Periodicals Committee after 1946, or its successor, the Books and Periodicals Advisory Panel, are known to have survived.

In 1948 the Books and Periodicals Committee became the Books and Periodicals Advisory Panel.
In 1959 a new British Books Overseas Advisory Committee was formed to advise the British Council on how to counter the perceived threat posed by the distribution, especially in South-East Asia, of Chinese and Russian produced books in English.
