Description

London & North Eastern Railway. 11 diagrammatic railway maps.

i. Great Eastern Section. (1) Face: lines from London to York and East Anglia. Dorse: suburban lines from London to Broxbourne, Ongar and Shenfield.

ii. North-Eastern Area. (2) Face: lines in the area between Carlisle, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Sheffield. Insets: enlarged diagrams of Tyneside and Teeside. Dorse: advertisements.

iii. Great Northern Section. (3) Face: main line and branches in the area between Doncaster, Grimsby, Peterborough and Stafford. Dorse: main line and branches in the area between Peterborough, Great Yarmouth and London. (4) Face: lines in the area between Blackburn, York and Doncaster. Dorse: lines in the area between Glasgow and Doncaster.

iv. Maps apparently extracted from timetable books. (5.1) Connections in the Midlands and Eastern England, with insets showing Sheffield and Doncaster, and Liverpool and Manchester. (5.2) Face: copy of (5.1); dorse: copy of (8). (6) Connections in Central and Southern Scotland, with insets showing Edinburgh and Glasgow. (7.1) Face: copy of (7.2); dorse: copy of (9). (7.2) Connections in Northern England, with insets showing Newcastle upon Tyne, and Leeds and Bradford. (8) Connections in Wales and Western England. (9) Connection in 'Eastern Counties' [East Anglia]. Some sheets dated 1929 in manuscript.

Scales not shown. Dimensions between 55 cm x 42 cm and 19 cm x 17.5 cm.
