'Great Western Railway': outline map of England and Wales south of Manchester and west of London, showing railway lines and the distances of stations from London Paddington. Reference table to Great Western Railway and other lines. Scale: 1 inch to 8 miles. Compass star. Lithographed by Thomas Kell & Son, 40 King Street, Covent Garden, 1879. Manuscript additions, in coloured ink, show the locations of more than fifty snowdrifts experienced along the route during the winter of 1881. A note in pencil states: 'Some of the places were blocked again after being once cleared'. A Great Western Railway Company Central Record Office label on the front endpaper bears the number Plan 32.
