'Map of the Grand Junction Railway and Adjacent Country, published by Order of the Directors - Joseph Locke, Engineer': on four sheets, together covering the area between Preston in the north-west and Leicester in the south-east; also showing other railways, roads, waterways, county boundaries and place names; with a section of the Grand Junction Railway printed below the map. Scale: 1 inch to 2 miles (horizontal); 1 inch to 400 feet [1:4,800] (vertical). Compass indicator. 'Piano-key' border. [?Based on Ordnance Survey mapping]; drawn, engraved and published under the direction of Charles F Cheffins, 9 Southampton Buildings, Holborn; published 1 July 1836. Coloured manuscript additions show two additional railway lines, [?depicting routes proposed in bills before Parliament by the London and North Western Railway and the North Staffordshire Railway, c.1845-1847].
