'Map of the Grand Junction Railway and Adjacent Country, published by Order of the Directors - Joseph Locke, Engineer': on four sheets, together covering the area between Preston in the north-west and Leicester in the south-east; also showing other railways, roads, waterways, county boundaries and place names; with a section of the Grand Junction Railway printed below the map. Scale: 1 inch to 2 miles (horizontal); 1 inch to 400 feet [1:4,800] (vertical). Compass indicator. 'Piano-key' border. [?Based on Ordnance Survey mapping]; drawn, engraved and published under the direction of Charles F Cheffins, 9 Southampton Buildings, Holborn; published 1 July 1836. The north-western and north-eastern sheets of this copy have been joined, as have the south-western and south-eastern sheets. An attached note states that this map is 'from the collection of W.H. Williams, late Traffic Dept., Edge Hill and Lime Street, L.N.W.R. [London and North Western Railway] 1869-1916'.
