Description

Letters received from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals on matters relating to British Guiana. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Crown Agents (vaccine lymph for British Guiana, consolidation of the British Guiana Public Department, salary to Mr Salmon, half-salary to Mr Frith, salary to Mr Crosley, salary to Reverend F I Wyatt during leave of absence, salaries to Messrs Twyford, Pollard, Cox and Austin during their leave of absence, half-salary to R C Swain, salary to Mr Justice Phillipps while on leave, pension to Reverend G Fox);
  • Treasury (pension to W H Ware to commence on 23 November 1872, purchase of pocket chronometers for the geological survey, remittances on account of the sinking fund of the guaranteed loan);
  • Foreign Office (recognition of Vice-Consuls or Consular Agents appointed by Consuls, appointment of Mr Leon as German Consular Agent, death certificate of C R Van Landen, Mr Whitfield's views on the state of the colony);
