Description

Letters received from various government offices (departments), other organisations and individuals relating to British Guiana. Correspondents and subjects are as follows:

Offices:

  • Crown Agents (payments to W Holmes, J C Harris, B G Norton, W H A Burrowes, G W Barrett, Mr Fenwell and Staff Commander Parsons, material for police clothing, salary and half-salary of C P Austin);
  • India Office (information on the propagation of Teak, commission to enquire into the state of the Indian emigrant labourers in British Guiana);
  • Treasury (accounts for the sinking fund, ordinance 19 of 1869 granting rights to the International Ocean Telegraph Company, ordinance to transfer these rights to the West India and Panama Telegraph Company, salary to the Bishop of Guiana while resident in England, geological survey, pensions to colonial officers, leave salary of R L Webber);
