Contains a large quantity of printed material, including orders in council for holding assizes and copies of parliamentary bills and acts. Some of the bills and acts are annotated.
There are also forms of oaths and affirmations with statutes relating thereto (HMSO, 1890) and printed orders governing allowances to witnesses and police constables in criminal prosecutions. Almost all the documents dated after 1864 are signed by Charles Platt, clerk of assize for the Norfolk Circuit from 1864 to 1902.
Some non-assize material can also be found here: some of the earlier draft bills and acts of Parliament which were once in Sir James Eyre's possession (1734 to 1799, recorder of London 1763 to 1772, baron and then chief baron of Exchequer 1772 to 1793, and chief justice of Common Pleas 1793 to 1799).
